Eastern Medicine
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is over 2,000 year-old and originated in China. Many basic tenets of the medicine of the east originate from India from the Ayurvedic system. The basic theory behind Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) or Traditional East Asian Medicine (TEAM) involves the flow of Qi ("chee") -energy, and blood through meridians or "pathways" in the body. When these pathways are blocked or lacking Qi and blood, symptoms occur—everything from tension and fatigue to pain and digestive disorders. Eventually illness and disease present themselves.
The practice of acupuncture involves the insertion of very fine, (thinner than hair) stainless steel needles into the body using an appropriate combination of acupuncture points to access the body’s meridians and internal pathways. The regulation of Qi restores balance to the body by accessing areas that may be affected by stress, insufficient dietary choices, overwork, illness, trauma/injury, and emotions.
Acupuncture can help with chronic illness, musculoskeletal (sports injury) issues, allergies, and digestive problems. It is a great preventive medicine to help the body keep up with outside demands.
It can help improve circulation, calm the spirit, reduce stress, increase stamina, and boost immunity.
Moxibustion
Burning dried mugwort over places in the body and acupuncture points to increase the efficacy of the treatment. Mugwort can help build and move the blood. The moxa stick itself is like an incense stick, it leaves a slight odor in the room.

Medical Qi Gong
A needle-less therapy, non-physical contact therapy that involves balancing qi in the body. Medical qigong uses the philosophy and theory of acupuncture, but utilizes non-touch and verbal guided meditation to aid the person in healing. This is highly recommended for someone with aversion to needles. This therapy can be done remotely over zoom.
Gua sha and fire cupping
These are additional modalities that move qi and blood. Gua sha uses a tool that scrapes and is similar to a massage. Fire cupping uses glass cups that create a suction to pull the muscles. Afterwards marks are left on the body caused by the breaking up of small capillary blood vessels, this allows for healing of the tissues. May be used in acute or chronic conditions.
Electro Acupuncture (estim)
By sending an electric current to two needles, the nerve fibers are stimulated more than just the needle along and can be useful in chronic orthopedic conditions.
